PRESERVING A PIECE OF
LOCAL HISTORY
BARTONVILLE'S NEIGHBORHOOD STORE
Established on a dusty wagon trail between Justin and Denton in 1882, Bartonville's iconic Food Store served our community faithfully for generations. Some would say it's very existence is the reason for the town of Bartonville, and indeed it's first owners were the Barton family.
A PLACE FULL OF MEMORIES
For over 140 years, these humble doors welcomed locals to shop, eat and visit with neighbors. As one of the oldest continuously operating businesses in Denton County, the Bartonville Food Store is home to many memories over the years. The business passed through the hands of many local families over it's impressive history, and became central to local commerce and community.
Ask anyone who grew up here, and you'll hear stories about kind strangers offering gas for neighbors, a young'un buying a first beer on his 21st birthday, and old folks stopping by daily to pick up the local newspaper. Our new owner saw the sentimental value of the old building and set out to preserve the local icon.
